WHAT IS ECU REMAPPING?

WHAT IS ECU REMAPPING/PROGRAMMING?

When a manufacturer develops a new car they need to take under account all the conditions it might be subjected to in each the areas in which they wish to sell this version. This means instead of simply optimising the ECU’s program or’map’ to deliver the best performance or the maximum fuel efficiency that they must make compromises to the map to consider these possible differing operating conditions. These may include pre-assembled fuels, extremes in temperature and elevation, differing emission laws as well as the chance that vehicle might not be serviced on a regular basis and in accordance with the manufacturers recommended instructions.
ECU remapping is shooting a read from the ECU’s processing chip of the vehicles standard compromised map and adjusting different parameters within the map like fuel pressure, boost pressure (on turbocharged applications) ignition advance and throttle pedal control among others to release the authentic performance from the motor. It’s a completely safe process since it’s only giving the motor that the performance it must have had in the first place before all the compromises have been applied to the initial programming. Each engine will have its own special map and by correcting this we could fine tune the features of the motor; unleashing more energy and oftentimes reduce fuel consumption also.
BENEFITS OF ECU REMAPPING/PROGRAMMING
ECU programming won’t only enhance the motors torque and power figures, it will also sharpen the throttle response and expand the power-band. This will produce the power delivery far more linear, which in turn will make the vehicle feel livelier to drive and the engine more flexible. Often, the vehicle’s power output is limited by the manufacturer for no other reason than to make sure that it fits into a course to match fleet buyers. As a driving enthusiast, you don’t need or desire such constraints placed upon your vehicle’s ECU, so with a conversion you may benefit from the concealed power and torque locked away in your engine management system.
The other primary advantage of remapping will be a decrease in fuel consumption. With the excess torque – especially in the bottom of the rev range – you will find a fuel saving since it will need less throttle input to keep motorway speeds; you can push in a higher gear at a slower rate; and the extra power is particularly helpful when fully laden, towing, or on gradients.

ECU REMAPPING BENEFITS FOR TURBOCHARGED DIESEL ENGINES
Many see the contemporary crop of Turbocharged diesels as the future of street car’s chip tuning. In North America, a country famous for its love of the gas engine is beginning to come around to the benefits of turbo diesel passenger cars in particular. These engines offer you excellent possibility of reliable low cost pruning without eliminating any of the allure of purchasing and running a turbo diesel powered vehicle, such as market, reliability and durability.
After your ECU update to your turbocharged diesel engine, you may enjoy:
Increased horsepower
Improved torque
Better throttle response
Smoother energy Shipping
Improved fuel economy
Safer overtaking

ECU REMAPPING BENEFITS FOR TURBOCHARGED PETROL ENGINES
Turbocharged gasoline engines have always been considered to be the sport flagship engine for good reason. They boast much higher power & torque amounts than a non-turbocharged power-plant with similar displacement and are often fitted to the manufacturer’s flagship models. They’re also ideal candidates for programming since the ECU also controls the wastegate (turbo boost pressure control).
After your ECU update to your turbocharged petrol engine, you may enjoy:
Increased horsepower
Improved torque
Better throttle response
Smoother energy Shipping
Safer overtaking

Better Throttle Response
Safer Overtaking
ECU REMAPPING BENEFITS FOR NON-TURBOCHARGED PETROL ENGINES
Normally aspirated petrol engines are not the easiest to tune, can still benefit from a 10-15% power increase with additional torque by cautious reprogramming of search engine parameters. Fuel and ignition mapping may be fine, and on some engines the camshaft timing may also be subtly enhanced to acquire power.
Oftentimes, after-market hardware such as free-flowing exhausts, high-flow air filters, and reprofiled camshafts can only be fully exploited to gain power once the ECU calibration was altered to suit. Using high-octane fuel may also be manipulated by mapping for more ignition advance.

SAVING FUEL WITH ECU REMAP/PROGRAMMING?
When we remap a car, especially if fuel conserving is your priority, we concentrate on enhancing low-end torque and widening the energy delivery so far as possible.
The torque enhancements lead to reduce throttle openings at cruising speeds, when fully laden, or on a gradient. Additionally, it allows for using higher gears at slower speeds, and fewer gear changes overall.
These factors, along with a change in driving style to maximise the energy attributes, will see an improvement in in fuel consumption. On turbo diesel software it can be as large as 20%.

WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY MODIFY IN MY VEHICLE?
We don’t change any hardware in your car or truck, we simply modify the operating parameters at the ECU’s program or’map’. Oftentimes the map saved on the ECU’s chip can be obtained through the on-board diagnostics interface (OBD) in the car, normally found under the dashboard. In some newer versions the ECU will need to be removed from the car and the casing started, our technicians will then use specialist tools to read the initial map right from the processing processor .
The technician will then upload the initial map into our map composing team who will correct the parameters to maximise the functionality, fuel market or a smart blend of both. Based on the car and ECU type the chip tuning process can take under an hour and if at any time you would like to return your vehicles ECU to its default settings, this can be accomplished easily and free of charge as we always keep a copy of the original software for a backup.

The energy and fuel economy of your vehicle could be enhanced or boosted in about one hour by changing the settings on the engine control unit (ECU). An automobile’s engine control unit (ECU) is the computer which controls how the motor works.

However, the company’s default settings (or maps) aren’t necessarily the best they are as they’re forced to consider unique laws, like emissions standards, ponds, fuel quality etc., in each the states that their vehicles are offered in.

Car makers are also known to restrict the operation of the cars throughout the ECU so that they can release quicker versions at a later date, with only a couple software changes and a higher cost.

Remapping makes the most of your Vehicle
By overwriting the ECU’s default settings with new settings that are programmed to improve the car’s overall performance. It usually takes between thirty minutes and an hour. You will witness a direct improvement in the speed and power of your vehicle.

The motor will also be more responsive, so it is going to be much easier to tow a caravan, overtake and you may also realize that you don’t need to change gear as often, which means that you will get more miles to the gallon… what’s not to like about that!

However, the manufacturer’s default settings (or maps) are not necessarily the best they could be as they are forced to consider different laws, such as emissions standards, climates, fuel quality etc. in all of the countries that their vehicles are sold in.

Car makers are also known to limit the performance of their cars through the ECU so they can release faster models at a later date, with just a few software changes and a higher price.
